Welcome to The Nest

Some places seem to wait patiently for the right moment to come alive again.

The Nest at Grey Farms is one of those places.

Built in the late 1800s, this farmhouse has stood for generations, quietly witnessing the rhythms of rural life — mornings warmed by sunlight through tall windows, evenings spent on the porch, conversations carried by the breeze. Like many historic homes, it has known seasons of activity and seasons of stillness. But its bones remained strong, and its story was never finished.

When we first encountered the home, we didn’t see a renovation project. We saw a promise.

Through the care and vision of Grey Realty, the farmhouse has been restored to its original floor plan and recognized for its historic significance. Original windows were preserved, rough-cut pine shiplap was left visible in places, and portions of the structure were intentionally left unfinished to honor the craftsmanship of another era. The goal was never to modernize the soul out of the house, but to allow history and hospitality to exist together — comfortably and honestly.

A Home Meant to Be Shared

From the beginning, The Nest at Grey Farms was imagined as a place of gathering.

Not a museum, but a living home. A place where people come to slow down, celebrate meaningful moments, and reconnect — with one another and with the land. As an Airbnb and event space, the home offers something different from a typical stay. It’s not just where you sleep between plans; it’s where you arrive and be.

Inside, the rooms are designed for conversation and comfort. The Gallery welcomes shared meals and toasts. The Parlor invites guests to linger by the fire. The Bella and Derby suites offer calm, private retreats — perfect for wedding days, anniversaries, or quiet mornings after full evenings.

Outside, the land opens wide. Shaded lawns, gardens, a rustic barn, and a small hobby farm anchor the property in a way of life that feels both grounded and generous. Animals roam the pasture, pecan trees offer their harvest, and the porch remains the heart of it all.

Living in Concert with the Land

At the center of The Nest at Grey Farms is a simple philosophy: hospitality rooted in integrity.

That philosophy comes to life in the Tea Room — a community space built on trust and care. Guests are invited to serve themselves tea, coffee, baked goods, fresh eggs, honey, and seasonal produce, then leave the space just as they found it. Tea is served on April’s mother’s china, pieces passed down through her family — a quiet reminder that this home is not staged, but shared.

This is not about living off the grid. It’s about living with intention: minimizing waste, composting, reusing what we have, and drawing thoughtfully from the land.

A Place for Meaningful Moments

As an event space, The Nest at Grey Farms is designed for life’s most meaningful gatherings — weddings beneath the magnolia tree, intimate celebrations, retreats, and moments worth remembering. The home doesn’t need much decoration; its history and setting speak for themselves.

This blog marks the beginning of sharing that story more fully. Here, we’ll offer glimpses into the restoration, life on the land, recipes from the garden, and updates on upcoming events and availability.
