The Nest at Grey Farms to Host Grand Open House & Ribbon Cutting in Greenwell Springs

On Friday, April 17th at 11:00 AM, the community is invited to celebrate a special milestone in Greenwell Springs — the official Open House and Ribbon Cutting of The Nest at Grey Farms.

After months of thoughtful restoration, vision, and hard work, property owner April Renard will officially open the doors to this historic farmhouse and event space. The celebration will begin at 11:00 AM with a ribbon cutting ceremony alongside the Mayor, followed by remarks from April sharing the story of the home and its journey back to life.

At noon, the festivities continue with a classic Louisiana crawfish boil, live bluegrass music on the wraparound porch, and guided tours of the restored farmhouse and surrounding property.

The event is open to the public, and all are welcome.

The farmhouse kitchen was renovated with care.

A Historic Farmhouse Restored with Purpose

Nestled among towering oak, pine, and bald cypress trees, The Nest at Grey Farms is more than a renovation project — it is a restoration of heritage.

Since the summer of 2025, April Renard has been carefully renovating the farmhouse, honoring its historic character while thoughtfully updating it for modern gatherings and overnight stays. The goal has been simple yet meaningful: restore the home to its original purpose as a place of gathering, hospitality, and community.

What was once a quiet farmhouse is now becoming a destination for:

  • Private events and celebrations

  • Community gatherings

  • Overnight stays in a peaceful rural setting

  • Workshops, retreats, and seasonal events

Guests at the Open House will have the opportunity to walk through the home, see the restoration work firsthand, and experience the charm of the wraparound porch — where a bluegrass band will provide live music throughout the afternoon.

April’s daughter feeds the sheep and goats on the property of The Nest at Grey Farms.

A Living Property

The property itself remains deeply connected to its agricultural roots.

Visitors will be able to explore:

  • Open pasture fields home to sheep and goats

  • Hazel, the beloved livestock guardian dog who watches over the herd

  • A winding creek where nutria and native species can often be spotted

  • Expansive green space shaded by century-old trees

The Nest at Grey Farms offers something increasingly rare — a place where history, land, and community intersect.
